A highway from Kotdwar to Srinagar will be constructed along the lines of Allweather Road. Under this, the width of the highway from Kotdwar to Srinagar will be 12 meters. The widening and asphaltization of NH will be done in four phases. The Kotdwar-Pauri-Srinagar highway will become an alternative route for the Chardham Yatra and with its construction, tourists from UP, Delhi will be able to ease their movement. These things were told by Forest Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat in the press conference.

Forest Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat held a press conference at his official residence. He said that the Kotdwar-Pauri-Srinagar highway will be a lifeline of the Pauri Garhwal district. The construction of this highway will prevent migration in the district and promote tourism. He said that the width of the highway from Kotdwar to Srinagar will be 12 meters, while NH from Meerut to Kotdwar is being made a four-lane.

He said that during the last assembly elections, Nitin Gadkari had announced to construct NH on the lines of Agroda Road, which the government is going to complete soon. It is said that in the first phase, along with forest land clearance from Satpuli to Agroda, an amount of 82 crores has been approved.

The tender process will be started in the next three-four days. It said that estimates of Rs 196 crore for Dugadda to Kotdwar, 225 crore from Dugadda to Gumkhal, 250 crores from Gumkhal to Satpuli, and 280 crores for Agarora to Srinagar will also be approved soon. Vinod Rawat, OSD of Forest Minister, PRO CP Naithani, Surendra Singh Gusain, Mukesh Negi, etc. were present on the occasion.

Tunnels will be built in the second phase:

Forest Minister said that the process of transfer of forest land is being done in the meeting of Chief and Chief Conservator of Garhwal of NH. In the second phase, tunnels for Dugadda to Satpuli and Satpuli to Khandah will be proposed.
