Internet service will be available in all colleges within two months.

Minister of State for Higher Education (Independent Charge) Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the student fund will be used to provide 4G internet service in all government degree colleges in the state. Under this scheme, Internet service will be provided in all colleges within two months.

Departmental Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat reviewed the Higher Education Department in a meeting held on Monday in the office located in the Vidhan Sabha. He instructed to provide 14 basic facilities to the students in all government degree colleges soon. He said that every college has a deposit of lakhs of student funds. It will be spent on basic facilities in the concerned college itself in the interest of students. He expressed displeasure over the rhetoric of certain student organizations in this regard.

He said that the government is preparing new rules. In this, the right to approve the funds of the student fund will be decided. The concerned college principal up to two lakh rupees, higher education director will be able to approve up to five lakhs. If there is a need to spend more than five lakhs from the student fund, then the government will give its approval. The departmental minister made it clear that the said student fund can be spent only on 14 basic facilities like library, internet, furniture, smart class, laboratory equipment, drinking water, electrification, sports goods, e-library etc. in colleges.

He reviewed the number of teachers, non-teaching staff and students in government degree colleges under the Srinagar assembly constituency as well as the construction works under the state sector and the National Higher Education Campaign (RUSA). During this time, the executive organization was instructed to complete the unfinished tasks soon.

He instructed the principals of Pabau, Mazra Mahadev, Thalisain and Upharankhal colleges to increase student numbers and provide the above 14 basic facilities to the students. The principals complained of not getting recognition from Sridev Suman University and not announcing the exam results on time. The departmental minister instructed the vice-chancellor of the university, Dr. PP Dhyani, to resolve the above problems immediately. The Vice Chancellor informed that accreditation papers are pending at the Raj Bhavan level.
