President Draupadi Murmu said that the real measure of the progress of a country or society is how Divyangjan are treated there. India’s history is full of inspiring incidents of sensitivity and inclusiveness. Our culture has always included feelings of compassion and love. The President attended the program organized at the National Drishti Divyangjan Empowerment Institute in Dehradun on Friday. During this, she said that there have been many obstacles in front of Divyangjan, to overcome which an inclusive approach and continuous efforts are necessary. She said that through ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’, the government is developing accessible environment, transport and information system for Divyangjan, so that they can participate equally. She said that today is the era of science and technology. With the help of advanced technology, Divyangjan can also play an important role in the progress of the country. The President said that it is very important to make Divyangjan self-reliant by providing education, skill training and employment opportunities. Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, the President said that special provisions have been made for Divyang children in it so that they can also move forward with equal opportunities. During this, the President inspected the science laboratory and computer laboratory of the Model School in the institute campus. Along with this, he also saw the exhibition showcasing the talent of the Divyangjans. The President interacted with the students and inquired about their education and training. He said that the cafe run by Divyangjans in the Rashtrapati Bhavan campus is an example of the fact that Divyangjans are not behind anyone when given the opportunity. During the program, the President also mentioned the ‘Purple Fest’, in which Divyangjans showcased their talent. He said that the society should give equal opportunities to Divyangjans in every sphere of life, so that their confidence increases and they can participate in the development of the country. The President said that on the strength of their hard work and talent, Divyangjans can become the pride of not only their family but the entire country. President gave a message by celebrating his birthday among children: Union Minister Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar said that President Draupadi Murmu has given an inspirational message to the society by celebrating her birthday among visually impaired children. He said that if public representatives go among deprived children and celebrate their birthdays, then energy is infused in the children and they are inspired to move forward. The minister said that now visually impaired children are studying science and mathematics in the institute. Last year two and this year five students have taken admission in science class.
This institute is becoming an ideal model across the country and in future it will also be started in all the nine institutes of the ministry. Committed to the bright future of visually impaired children: Chief Minister Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made for the empowerment of the disabled. The Prime Minister developed positive thinking in the society by giving the word ‘Divyang’ in place of ‘Viklang’. The Chief Minister said that ‘we cannot return the eyesight of visually impaired children, but we will work with full commitment for their bright future. He told that the state government is constantly making efforts for the welfare of the disabled. Capability is not in vision, but in resolve: Governor Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) praised the talent and confidence of visually impaired children. He said that these children have proved that capability is not in vision, but in resolve. The confidence and creativity with which the children demonstrated their talent expresses the new consciousness of the nation and the spirit of self-reliant India. He said that these children have the same energy, the same ability and the same passion, which can build a strong and developed India. Today’s India is going through a transformative phase.
