Presently there are 408 large layer and broiler poultry farms in the state. Apart from this, there are more than 14 thousand small poultry farms. Poultry farming is also a major source of self-employment in the state. An alert has been sounded in Uttarakhand after thousands of birds died due to bird flu in other states including Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

Animal Husbandry Department has banned the import of chickens, chickens, and eggs from the bird flu infected states in the state. Due to which bird flu cannot spread in the state. Along with this, the sale and sale of eggs and chickens will be stopped after the symptoms of bird flu in the poultry farm.

Director of Animal Husbandry Department Dr. KK Joshi says that regular monitoring is being done in the state regarding bird flu. So far no symptoms of bird flu disease have been found in any poultry farm. As a precaution, the import of eggs, chickens, and chickens from infected states has been banned. Samples are being sent to the district and block level for bird flu examination.
