In Uttarakhand, amidst the heat of the sun, the election atmosphere was cool, neither election noise was echoed nor any fight over flags and poles.

The time for voting on April 19 for all five Lok Sabha seats in the central Himalayan state of Uttarakhand is now near, but it does not yet feel like an election. The kind of atmosphere and warmth that was seen during the election campaign in the previous elections was missing this time. It is not that there was no election campaigning during the month-long campaign, but the format was different. Along with the candidates contesting the elections, star campaigners also held meetings. Lots of promises and claims were made, but the atmosphere remained calm. There was no election noise nor was there any fighting over flags and poles. The voters listened to everyone, but remained silent. The voters did not allow anyone to fathom their feelings, which has increased the heartbeats of political parties and candidates. At the same time, various reasons are floating around regarding the election temperature not rising.
If we look at the political scenario of Uttarakhand in the light of the last elections, there has been a clash between the traditional rivals Congress and BJP. This time too, the picture is looking similar, but the way the election temperature was rising till last time, it was missing.
There did not seem to be much effort being made to warm the atmosphere. The candidates and supporters who came to the doorstep of the lucky voters made a lot of promises and claims. Despite this, there was neither any competition for distributing pamphlets nor for wall writing, banners and posters. The elders used to wait at the doorstep to bless the candidates, but this time the entire month passed in front of our eyes. From remote mountains to plains, the landscape of villages and cities remained no different from this.

Political reasons were also responsible
In such a situation, the question is floating around that why the elections were not held this time like every time. Why did the election mercury not rise? That is, naturally this topic is at the center of discussion on everyone’s lips. If election temperature is not visible in the atmosphere amid the heat of the sun, then there are political reasons behind it. In fact, BJP had in a way taken a psychological lead by starting its election campaign much earlier. This time he gave the slogan of four hundred passes. What impact it had on the public will be known in the coming days, but its impact on Congress was definitely seen. The reluctance in Congress to contest elections is being linked to this and it has worked to reduce the enthusiasm of the party workers. Although Congress workers also gathered later when the candidates entered the fray, senior leaders of the state did not come out of their chambers.

Star campaigners made a splash
In the election campaign, BJP has used Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Minister Smriti Irani, General VK Singh (Seni) and other star campaigners. Held meetings at regular intervals. Among the big leaders among the star campaigners of Congress, only the party’s national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s meeting was held in the state. A meeting of former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Congress leader Sachin Pilot is proposed on Wednesday, the last day of campaigning. Apart from this, Union Minister Anurag Thakur is also visiting from BJP.

Individual claims of no election heat
Despite all this, the election temperature did not rise as it did in the previous elections. Everyone has their own claims regarding this. Some people are seeing this as a change. He says that thinking is now changing regarding the methods of election campaign. The voter has matured. He is not influenced by election noise, but judges the parties and candidates on his own criteria. On the other hand, some people express concern that the scenario seen this time may not affect the voting. There is similar concern among political parties and intellectual class. However, he also believes that the voters of Uttarakhand have always shown their mature thinking. He will participate enthusiastically in the elections and will destroy the previous patterns of voting this time.
