Heavy rain from the mountains to the plains, Orange alert for heavy rain in Dehradun and Nainital

After the onset of monsoon in Uttarakhand, the sequence of rains has increased from the mountains to the plains. Heavy rains are also happening in Dehradun. Apart from this, heavy rains are also being recorded in Haridwar, Roorkee, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital etc. Incidents of landslides have also increased in the mountainous areas. The road at Gaurikund on the Kedarnath route has been blocked for the second consecutive day and movement was affected for several hours. According to the Meteorological Department, the rain may continue in most parts of the state even today. Orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rains at some places, especially in Dehradun and Nainital. There are chances of heavy rain in other districts as well.

Series of rain continued for several hours
Clouds remained camped in most areas of the state since Sunday morning. Light rain started in Doon in the morning itself, which gradually intensified and continued for several hours. During this time, rivers and streams overflowed and waterlogging occurred at many places in the city. Due to intermittent rains in most areas of the state, mercury has also dropped. In most areas, the mercury is three to five degrees Celsius below normal. Rainfall is also occurring at many places on the Chardham Yatra routes. Debris is repeatedly falling from the hill at Gaurikund on the Kedarnath route and movement has been affected.
