Health department set a record in Kanwar Yatra, more than three lakh devotees got free treatment

The Uttarakhand government has set a new record in the Kanwar Yatra fair this year. The Health Department has provided free and prompt health care to more than three lakh devotees in the districts along the Yatra route. On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Health Department had made health facilities in the Kanwar Yatra fair area foolproof. 35 temporary medical camps were set up at these places. Permanent container hospitals were built at five places which will also be useful in future events. The department had deployed 45 doctors, 69 pharmacists, 48 ENT specialists, 58 staff nurses, 58 ANMs, 45 CHOs as well as 108 vans in the fair area. During the fair period, devotees were given medicines and treated for problems like fever, vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, normal and serious injuries, snakebite, dog bite, blisters on feet and body, high blood pressure and sugar etc.

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that due to excellent coordination between the administration, police and health department, the fair remained peaceful and organized. He said that this event has also emerged as an ideal model for the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
