Girish Chandra Murmu will take oath as the first Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar


India has now reduced to one new state with two new union territories. The new law for the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir has come into effect since midnight. The date for the state’s reorganization to take effect was October 31. Radhakrishna Mathur was sworn in as the first Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Ladakh will be a union territory without assembly. Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Geeta Mittal administered the oath of office and secrecy to RK Mathur in Leh in the morning. Former Defense Secretary Mathur took oath at a ceremony held at the Indus Culture Center in Leh at 7.45 am.

After a long struggle of 70 years, the dream of one country, one legislation and one mark was realized in the whole of India. The state of Jammu and Kashmir became a part of the past and two new union territories Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh emerged on the map of the country. There will be separate administrative arrangements in both places, which will be commanded by the Lieutenant Governor as the President’s representative. Girish Chandra Murmu will take oath as the first Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir will have an assembly. A senior official in Srinagar told that there is a program to administer oath to GC Murmu at quarter to twelve. Chief Justice Gita Mittal is to come from Leh. If there is a delay in their arrival, the oath taking will be at quarter to one. There is no information about the presence of outgoing Governor Satyapal Malik at the ceremony. He has been appointed as the Governor of Goa.
