Major Fairs of Uttarakhand

Joljeevi Fair

The Jauljeevi Fair is held at the confluence of the Kali and Gauri rivers of the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, at a place called Jauljeevi from 14 to 19 November every year, the fair started in 1914.

Chaiti Fair (Bala Sundari Fair)

The Chaiti Mela takes place in the Kundeshwari Devi temple of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district, Kundeshwari is considered the Kuldevi of the Chand kings in Kumaon.



Magh Fair

The Magh Mela starts in Uttarkashi from January 14 every year, it is also known as Badahat Thaul.

Bissu Fair

This fair takes place on Baisakhi day in many places of Uttarkashi district

Nandadevi Fair

Nandadevi Fair is found in many places like Almora, Nainital, Bageshwar, Millam etc. from Panchami of Bhadra Shukl party in Uttarakhand.

Shravani Fair

Shravani fair takes place for a month at Shravan Moss in Jageshwar, Almora.

Somnath Fair

Somnath fair is held at a place called Masi in Almora district. This fair is famous for the purchase and sale of animals.

Syalde Bachhoti Fair

Syalde Bachhoti fair is held in Dwarahat of Almora district every year on the first and second day of Baisakh month.

Baikunth Chaturdashi Fair

Baikunth Chaturdashi fair is held on the occasion of Baikunth Chaturdashi in Kamleshwar temple of Srinagar in Pauri district.

Transit Fair

Gopar Mela seems to be on the place called Gautar in Chamoli district. This fair was started in 1943 by the then Deputy Commissioner, Garhwal, Barney.

Jhanda Fair

Jhanda Mela is celebrated in Dehradun on the fifth day of Holi every year on the occasion of Guru Ram Rai’s birthday.

Thal Fair

The Thal Mela takes place every year on the occasion of Baisakhi in Pithoragarh, it started on 13 April 1940.
