The annual cultural festival for MBBS students, JIL-2025, was inaugurated on Tuesday at Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Medical College, Srinagar. Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated the event. He stated that the academic environment for MBBS students will be further improved. Students presented colorful cultural performances. Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the state government is continuously striving to strengthen the standard of medical education. A better academic environment is being provided to students in all medical colleges across the state. Libraries in all medical colleges will now be open 24 hours a day, allowing students to study at their convenience. Additionally, well-equipped reading rooms will be established in each hostel. He also announced that e-libraries will be established in medical and nursing colleges across the state, providing students with easy access to digital resources. He also announced that 15 types of sports equipment will be distributed to each medical college, enabling students to excel in sports while also pursuing their academics.
Inter-college sports competitions will be held between medical colleges, with the grand finale taking place at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Foundation stone laid for two girls’ hostels at the Medical College
Medical Education and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone for the renovation of two girls’ hostels on the Medical College campus and inaugurated the Emergency OT and Obstetrics & Gynecology OT at Base Hospital Srinagar. He stated that after the completion of the hostel renovations, the girl students will receive better residential facilities, further strengthening their academic environment. The government’s goal is to ensure that the state’s medical colleges are not only educational institutions but also centers of innovation and excellence in the medical field. College Principal Dr. Ashutosh Sayana welcomed the chief guest, Dr. Rawat. He stated that under the leadership of the Medical Education Minister, medical education in the state is continuously progressing, benefiting thousands of students. The Principal also wished the Minister a happy birthday.
