Due to Corona, the Indo-Nepal border, sealed for five months, can open from 17 September next month. There is talk of notification from Nepal Embassy in Delhi. However, according to sources from across the border, this is currently under consideration at the government level.

From 17 September 2020, the people of the border area will be able to visit each other’s country as before. According to Nepali media, in the first phase, people from 10 points of Indo-Nepal border will be able to legally move to each other’s country. Opening borders include Nepal’s Chhatki Post, Kakad Bhitta, Rani, Madar, Gaur, Veerganj, Bellahia, Krishnanagar, Jamunaha, Gaurifanta.
According to sources from across the border, there are reports of notification from the Nepal Embassy in India, but it is also being said that the Nepal government is still discussing it.
Meanwhile, SDM Dayanand Saraswati of Purnagiri Tehsil located on the Indo-Nepal border says that the Champawat district administration does not have any information about the opening of the border nor information about the Nepalese embassy notification.
