Pushkar Singh Dhami cabinet may be expanded soon. Three to four new ministers can be made. However, it is also being said that a step like reshuffle can also be taken on the instructions of the high command. There is even talk that there is a deep brainstorming going on about all this and the cabinet may be expanded before the start of Pitru Paksha. Pitru Paksha is going to start from September 17. At present, the number of members of Chief Minister Dhami’s team is eight including the Chief Minister, while according to the constitutional provision, there can be a maximum of 12-member cabinet here. In the year 2022, when the BJP came to power for the second consecutive time, a total of nine members were included in the Dhami cabinet and three places were kept vacant. Last year, another place became vacant due to the death of Cabinet Minister Chandan Ram Das. Due to the small size of the cabinet, there was discussion of expansion many times, but due to different reasons this subject kept getting postponed. Now that the by-election of Kedarnath assembly seat along with municipal body and three-tier panchayat elections are to be held in the state in the near future, possibilities of cabinet expansion are being expressed in the corridors of politics.
Meeting to be held with central leadership
Recently, BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt had indicated that the Chief Minister is now to have one more round of meeting with the central leadership regarding cabinet expansion. After this, the cabinet will be expanded. Although, whenever the Chief Minister visits Delhi, the topic of cabinet expansion remains the center of discussion, but these days this discussion has again gained momentum. It is being said that the Chief Minister is engaged in deep brainstorming these days regarding cabinet expansion. Cabinet expansion can be done as soon as the green signal is received from the party high command.
It is also being discussed rapidly for the last few days that the departments of some ministers can also be changed. Amidst all this, now everyone’s eyes are fixed on the next step of the Chief Minister, because cabinet expansion is a matter of his privilege.
