Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed to deploy ATS and special security forces to deal with any possible terrorist incident during the Kanwad Yatra and fair. He also asked the intelligence machinery to be vigilant and departmental secretaries and Inspector Generals of Police to conduct a three-day on-site inspection to take stock of all the preparations for the fair. The Chief Minister was reviewing the preparations for the Kanwad fair through video conferencing from New Delhi on Tuesday. He also directed the administration and police officials to analyze the challenges posed in the previous Yatras from the point of view of law and order and take corrective steps. He said that effective crowd control, traffic management and security arrangements should be made to prevent any kind of vandalism, disturbance or other undesirable incidents in this huge religious event. Complete verification of camp operators, working persons, volunteers and persons staying in hotels and dharamshalas should be done. X-ray systems, fire extinguishers, fire tenders and personnel should be deployed at all major sites. Ambulance and backup arrangements should be made at Haridwar Ghats, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple and other important places, adequate deployment of women and men security personnel in plain clothes and divers and water police equipped with disaster relief equipment should be made. For prevention, black spots should be identified and corrective work should be done. Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman and many other police officers were present in the meeting.
