CM Dhami will inaugurate the sixth World Disaster Management Conference today, representatives from 70 countries will participate

Experts and scientists from 70 countries of the world including India will gather in Doon from Tuesday to discuss the strategy to deal with the challenges of natural disasters and minimize the damage. The occasion will be the Sixth World Disaster Conference, which Uttarakhand is hosting this time. The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. On this occasion, he will also release the book Resilient India based on the experience of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The book tells how Prime Minister Modi has changed India’s disaster management model and made it more effective. This conference will prove to be more important for other Himalayan states including Uttarakhand.
The conference will be held at the Silver Jubilee Convention Center of Graphic Era University under the joint aegis of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology and Disaster Management Initiative and Convergence Society Hyderabad.

Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha said that all preparations for the conference have been completed. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate it at 10.15 am on Tuesday. Top scientists, experts, academicians, policy makers and researchers from 70 countries working and making strategies in the field of disaster will participate in the conference. Technical sessions will run at more than 20 locations. An exhibition on disaster management will also be organized in the grounds of Graphic Era University.
In this international conference, studies, research and experiences on disasters around the world will be shared and discussions will be held on finding a holistic solution to disasters. 350 research papers will be presented in the conference which will run till December 1. Dehradun Declaration will be issued at the conclusion of the conference. It will contain important ideas, reactions and suggestions regarding disaster management globally.

Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the basic objective of the Sixth World Disaster Management Conference is to discuss and suggest solutions to the challenges of climate and disaster management by focusing on the Himalayan ecosystem and communities. This will strengthen the efforts to develop Uttarakhand as an international research and solution center for disaster management and climate change. Before the Global Investors Conference to be held in Doon from December 8, this event will reinforce the notion of ‘Safe Investment, Strong Uttarakhand’ abroad.
