Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is going to give a solid gift of women’s policy to the women of Uttarakhand in the fifth year of his tenure. Uttarakhand’s first women’s policy may come in the cabinet soon. Through this, the government will prepare a policy roadmap for the economic, social empowerment of women.
Earlier, during the last four years, while on the one hand the CM gave 30 percent reservation to women in government jobs, for the first time, by implementing women’s reservation in cooperative societies, he also tried to raise women leadership at every level. Similarly, to strengthen the economy of women, schemes like Mahila Sarathi Yojana, Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana, Lakhpati Didi came on the ground.
Reservation in government jobs
The Dhami government has again implemented 30 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs to the women of Uttarakhand. All those women are getting the benefit of this reservation, who have domicile of Uttarakhand state. After this step of the state government, the number of women employees in government offices is improving. After the approval of the Governor, women reservation has been duly implemented from January 10, 2023.
Reservation in cooperative societies
The Dhami government has also implemented 33 percent women reservation in cooperative societies. Women reservation is already being given in the bodies and panchayats in Uttarakhand. Now with the implementation of women reservation in cooperative societies, the way has been cleared for the emergence of women leadership at all levels. According to the government spokesperson, CM Dhami has also implemented the Mahila Sarathi Yojana as a pilot project in Dehradun district on Women’s Day. Under this, women of the state are driving auto rickshaws and two-wheelers to take passengers to their destination.
Matri Shakti is the backbone of the society of Uttarakhand. Our government believes that without empowering women, it is difficult for the society to move forward, so many schemes dedicated to women are being run, which will prove to be a game changer in future. In this sequence, now we are also bringing women policy soon.
