In the Space Technology and Application Space Conference, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that today space technology and research are proving to be very effective in the development of the state. Director of National Remote Sensing Center (IIRS) Dr. Prakash Chauhan said that today space data is being used all the time in our lives. Satellites in space give us many types of updates along with GPS navigation. In Uttarakhand, we had made the livestock data online. During the Rishiganga, Chamoli disaster, we did mapping through satellite and prepared data. Which was later used in the national policy as well. This data was used in post disaster need assessment. Earth observation, satellite dialogue and satellite navigation have completely changed our lives. Satellite data is being used in the field of mapping during disasters, forest conservation and forest fire in Uttarakhand. Work is also being done to monitor glacier lakes, forecast floods, cloudbursts and other such incidents.
ISRO should adopt science centers: Chief Secretary
Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan said that special attention is being paid to adopting space technology in Uttarakhand and developing permanent scientific infrastructure for it. The Chief Secretary requested ISRO to adopt some science centers of the state. He also requested to make available imagery of 50 cm or such resolution of Cartosat to the state on real time and non-commercial basis. On this occasion, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Nitesh Jha, Director General UCOST Prof. Durgesh Pant and scientists were present.
