The Sports and Youth Welfare Department will now provide necessary support to youth preparing for Agniveer recruitment. This includes training them through running and physical training. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Sports Department to take necessary steps in this regard. He also directed regular sports competitions to be held across the state to ensure the regular maintenance and utilization of the infrastructure built during the National Games. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the Sports Department at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday. He directed the expedited construction of the proposed Sports University in Haldwani and the Women’s Sports College in Lohaghat. He stated that the early implementation of these projects will provide high-level training facilities to the state’s athletes, helping the state establish a new identity in the sports sector. To increase enthusiasm and participation in sports among youth, the Chief Minister called for the grand organization of competitions ranging from the Panchayat level to the MLA, MP, and Chief Minister’s Championship Trophy. The Chief Minister said that in view of the 39th National Games, better training and resources should be provided to the state’s athletes. Players who perform exceptionally well should be ensured timely access to awards, scholarships, and insurance coverage. He directed the Sports Department to develop sports infrastructure with the participation of the private sector and the corporate world.
The Chief Minister directed the appointment of experienced coaches to provide quality training to athletes and to expedite work related to the establishment of sports academies. Sports Minister Rekha Arya, Vice President of the Uttarakhand State Sports Council Hemraj Bisht, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Director Sports Ashish Chauhan, along with other Sports Department officials were present at the meeting.
