Children of government schools will be happy in the new year, there will be studies for only 240 days; schools will remain closed for 125 days

In the session 2025-26, there will be studies for 240 days in the government schools of the state. A total of 48 summer and winter holidays will be available throughout the year. Director of Secondary Education Dr. SB Joshi released the annual calendar of holidays for all the government schools of the state on Wednesday. Under this, summer schools will get 35 days of summer long vacation from 27 May to 30 June and 13 days of winter vacation from 1 to 13 January in the year 2025.

Similarly, schools with winter vacations will get 11 days of vacation from 20 June to 30 June. Similarly, 37 days of winter long vacation will be given from 26 December to 31 January 2026. This time, winter and summer schools will have equal 77 days of public holidays and Sunday holidays.

Both types of schools will have classes for 240 days in a year

The schools situated at an altitude of 5000 feet or less in the state have been categorized as summer schools, while the schools situated at an altitude of more than 5000 feet have been categorized as winter schools. This time both types of schools will have classes for 240 days in a year.

Schools will remain closed for a total of 125 days

The schools having winter holidays will remain closed for 125 days in the form of Sundays, public holidays, winter and summer holidays. Whereas, in summer schools, this time there will be a total of 125 days of holidays including all the holidays. Apart from these leaves, the Principal and Headmaster can give three days of discretionary leave. Also, the District Magistrate can also give three days of local leave.

This time these are the 40 public holidays
Guru Govind Singh Jayanti, Makar Sankranti, Republic Day, Vasant Panchami, Guru Ravidas Jayanti, Mahashivratri, Shab-e-Barat, Holika Dahan, Holi, Jamat-ul-Vida, Cheti Chand, Eid-ul-Fitr, Vaishakhi, Dr. BR Ambedkar Jayanti, Ram Navami, Good Friday, Mahavir Jayanti, Veer Keshri Chand Martyrdom Day, Buddha Purnima, Eid-ul-Zuha, Harela, Moharram, Rakshabandhan, Independence Day/ Chehlum, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Eid-ul-Milad, Vishwakarma Puja, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti, Vijayadashami, Valmiki Jayanti, Chhoti Diwali, Deepawali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, Igas, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Christmas.

Trust will establish a library for poor children
Dehradun: Jan Kalyan Jan Utthan Seva Trust will establish a library to provide education facilities to poor children. In the trust’s executive meeting held on Tuesday, all the members unanimously proposed for the library. The members and officials present accepted the proposal and the founder of the trust agreed to establish the library soon and said that the library will be established in the month of January itself. Accepting the suggestions of the members and officials, the name of the library was decided as Shashibala Gangwar Library. The program was conducted by the trust’s treasurer Rita Gangwar. Sunita Bhatt, Ranjana, Shivani Tyagi, Rajiv Saxena, Devraj Balchiyan etc. were present in the meeting.
