Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday welcomed the Shiva devotees Kanwariyas who came from different states at Om Pul Ghat near Damkothi, Haridwar by washing their feet and offering garlands, shawls and Gangajali. Welcoming the Kanwariyas who came to Uttarakhand from different states of the country, he said that Haridwar is the center of devotion of the whole country. This holy place has the special blessings of Mother Ganga and Lord Bholenath. Kanwar Yatra has special significance in the month of Shravan.
Tradition of welcoming Kanwariyas with flower shower
The state government has got the privilege of welcoming the Kanwariyas. By making the Kanwar Yatra smooth and safe, the government is working as a supporter of the Kanwariyas in this journey. Serving the Kanwariyas is a virtuous act for everyone. He described the welcoming of Kanwariyas with flower shower as the tradition of Atithi Devo Bhavah of Devbhoomi.
Chief Minister gave auspicious wishes to Kanwar pilgrims
The Chief Minister said that may the blessings of Devadhidev Mahadev remain on us. He appealed to the devotees of Shiva that we should not only enjoy the journey by joining the system, but also contribute to the successful progress of the Kanwar Yatra program of the holy Shravan month by showing self-discipline with faith and belief. The Chief Minister also gave auspicious wishes of a smooth and safe journey to all the devotees involved in the Kanwar Yatra.
Appeal to Kanwariyas to follow the instructions
The Chief Minister said that devotees from different parts of the country are coming on the Kanwar Yatra with immense reverence, who are carrying the country’s pride and pride tricolor along with reverence and faith. He has also appealed to the Kanwar pilgrims to follow the traffic rules and the guidelines issued by the government administration. Addressing the Shiv Samagam program organized at Om Pul Ghat, the Chief Minister said that the state government is working to preserve Sanatan culture along with faith and development.
All Kanwar devotees will perform Jalabhishek
He said all Kanwar devotees will perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva by taking Ganga water. The Chief Minister also appreciated the cooperation of the district administration, saints, public representatives, social organizations, voluntary organizations for the smooth management of the Kanwar fair. He said that the state government has made adequate arrangements for health camps, toilets, parking, tin sheds, resting places at various places for the Kanwar Yatra. This year the arrangements have been improved more as compared to last year.
Large number of Kanwariyas expected to come to Uttarakhand
He said last year about four crore Kanwariyas came to Uttarakhand in the Kanwar Yatra. With the blessings of Lord Bholenath, last year’s journey was completed safely. He said that this year also a large number of Kanwariyas are expected to come to Uttarakhand. For which the government administration is fully prepared.
