The Brahmin castes in Garhwal are basically divided into three parts – 1-Sarola, 2-Gangari 3-Nana. Sarola and Gangari came to Uttarakhand from the plains during the 8th and 9th centuries. 1. Nautiyal came from Tehri 700 years ago and settled in Nauti village in Chandpur.
