Big gang busted in fake drug business in Uttarakhand, STF team in action mode

After the order issued by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to dismantle the network of fake medicines, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand Police has expanded the scope of investigation. STF is continuously taking action against the accused involved in the fake drug business. So far 12 accused have been sent to jail.

Five of these accused are owners and plant operators of pharmaceutical companies. Meanwhile, STF has received inputs that another gang is also involved in the fake drug business. In this case, STF will register a separate case and start arresting the accused. The business of fake drugs has been going on in Uttarakhand for a long time. These accused, who are playing with the lives of people, are making fake medicines in the name of branded pharmaceutical companies and selling them in the market. On June 1, 2025, STF arrested accused Santosh Kumar from Selaqui while exposing the gang making fake wrappers and fake outer boxes, labels and QR codes of reputed pharmaceutical companies. A case was registered in Selaqui police station in this case. STF has so far arrested the accused Santosh Kumar, Naveen Bansal, Aditya Kala, Devi Dayal Gupta, Pankaj Sharma, Vijay Kumar Pandey, Pradeep Gaur, Shishir Singh, Shailendra Singh, Tejendra Kaur, Pradeep Kumar and his wife Shruti Dawar involved in the gang.

The network is spread in many states including Uttarakhand
The business of fake medicines is spread not only in Uttarakhand but also in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The accused prepare medicines at some places and wrappers at other places. After this, these fake medicines are released in the market. After the arrest of 12 accused, STF has received inputs about the activation of another gang. In such a situation, STF is also making a strategy to arrest these accused.
