BharatNet Phase 2 gets approval from the Center in Uttarakhand.

Internet will be provided in 5991 gram panchayats under 65 blocks of 12 districts of the state (already done in Haridwar district) under Bharat Net Phase-2 project. Giving this information in the press conference held at the Media Center, Secretariat, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that about Rs 2 thousand crore has been approved by the Central Government for this. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Information Technology and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The Chief Minister said that with this, Internet access will be started in all the Gram Panchayats of the state and a new era of development will be started and the economy of rural areas will gain momentum. The project is funded by the Universal Services Obligation Fund – USOF under the Union Ministry of Telecommunications and the project is being implemented in two phases by the Bharat Broad Band Network Limited (BBNL).
