In view of its provision in the Uttarakhand Shops and Establishments (Employment Regulation and Service Conditions) Act 2017, the government has again issued orders. According to Labor Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, to keep hotels, restaurants and dhabas open 24 hours a day, it is mandatory that the employees there be on duty in three shifts. The way the government is developing infrastructure facilities for tourism and pilgrimage, the flow of tourists and pilgrims has increased here. This time more than 54 lakh devotees had come here during the Chardham Yatra.

Meanwhile, in view of the increasing movement of tourists, the neighboring state of Himachal issued an order to keep all its hotels, restaurants and dhabas open 24 hours a day from December 20 to January 5. There was a stir in Uttarakhand regarding this as well. After this, orders were issued by Secretary Labor R Meenakshi Sundaram on Tuesday.

Secretary Sundaram said that under the Uttarakhand Shops and Establishments (Employment Regulation and Service Conditions) Act 2017, permission has been given to keep hotels, restaurants and dhabas open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For this, permission has also been given to all the workers in these establishments to work in day and night shifts under certain conditions. By following these conditions, the operators of these establishments can keep them open 24 hours. He said that at present a large number of tourists from other states are coming to Uttarakhand to welcome the New Year.
In view of the convenience of tourists, an appeal has been made to the owners of hotels, restaurants and dhabas etc. to keep their establishments open 24 hours 7 days as per the laws of the Labor Department. Secretary Sundaram said that the intention behind issuing the order in this regard is that everyone should be aware of it.
