CM Dhami takes a firm stance on the Kathgodam case, says government will file a review petition in the ‘Nanhhi Pari’ case.

Regarding the horrific crime against seven-year-old Nanhhi Pari, a girl originally from Pithoragarh, which occurred in Kathgodam in 2014, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the government to file a review petition in the Supreme Court. Taking cognizance of the Supreme Court’s acquittal of the accused in this case, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the government is committed to ensuring justice for the victims of such heinous crimes against women in the state. The accused had already been convicted by the lower court and the High Court, but for some reason, he was acquitted by the Supreme Court. Therefore, the Chief Minister has instructed the Legal Department to file a review petition in the Supreme Court and ensure a strong legal argument to secure a conviction. The Chief Minister said that the government will fight this case vigorously and will deploy the best legal team possible. He added that those who commit such heinous crimes in the land of the gods (Devbhoomi) will not be spared. The government stands firmly with the victim’s family in this fight for justice. He further stated that the government is continuously conducting verification drives across the state to identify such anti-social elements. The government will not allow the dignity of Devbhoomi to be tarnished.
