Village government could not be formed in 4843 Panchayats of Uttarakhand, this is the reason behind it

Despite the oath taking in the remaining 12 districts of the state except Haridwar, the village government could not be formed in 4843 Gram Panchayats. This situation has arisen due to 33,056 posts of Gram Panchayat members and 20 posts of Gram Pradhans being vacant. Now the Panchayat will be formed in these Gram Panchayats only after by-elections are held for these posts. After the completion of the Panchayat elections, the Pradhans and Gram Panchayat members took oath in the Gram Panchayats on Wednesday. Out of 7499, the board could be formed in only 2646 Gram Panchayats. This situation has arisen due to two-thirds of the posts of Gram Panchayat members being vacant in the remaining Gram Panchayats, while elections for the Pradhan posts could not be held in 20 Gram Panchayats. According to Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director of Panchayati Raj Department, the Gram Panchayat can be formed only when elections have been held for two-thirds of the posts of Gram Panchayat members including the Pradhan. He said that now information would be sent to the State Election Commission in view of the by-election for the vacant posts of Gram Panchayat members and Gram Pradhan.
