The state government is coming up with another important scheme to increase the livelihood of rural women. Under this scheme called Jalsakhi, along with drinking water supply in rural areas, the work of billing will be handed over to women self-help groups. For this, they will be given an incentive of Rs 10 per bill, as well as a part of the total revenue received. The draft of this scheme has been prepared. It will be implemented soon. To ensure drinking water supply in Uttarakhand, the government has started the Har Ghar Nal Yojana. This scheme is now reaching close to its target. Now the government is making arrangements to ensure water supply under this scheme. For this, there is a preparation to give the work of giving new connections in rural areas, bill distribution, bill correction, bill recovery and maintenance of schemes to women self-help groups on outsource basis. Along with this, the department will also provide kits to women groups to check the quality of drinking water. Women self-help groups will also report to the department on the complaints coming in the drinking water scheme. For this, the selected women self-help groups will be trained as Nal Jal Mitra. In this way, rural women will be able to get additional employment in their own homes.
