Monsoon rain may be heavy in some districts of Uttarakhand for the next two days. According to the Director of Meteorological Center, Bikram Singh, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in seven districts today. In view of this, a red alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. At the same time, there is a possibility of lightning with thunder and heavy to very heavy rain in some other districts. This sequence may continue for two days. The Meteorological Department has advised to be especially cautious in sensitive areas. In view of the alert of the Meteorological Department, holiday has been declared on Wednesday in schools up to 12th standard in five districts including Dehradun.
Badrinath Highway closed due to debris
The rain that has been going on since Tuesday night in Chamoli district continued on Wednesday morning as well. Here the Badrinath highway is blocked due to debris near Nandprayag and Bajpur.

The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of landslides in the mountainous areas and rivers and streams overflowing in the lower areas. Due to which it has been advised to be extra cautious in the surrounding areas. Late in the evening, holiday was declared in schools in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Whereas, in Haridwar district, schools have been declared closed till August 2 due to Kanwar fair.
