Rakesh Tikait, farmer leader and national spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday. 27 resolutions passed in mahapanchayat, memorandum sent to president
On the other hand, a total of 27 resolutions were passed on the third day in the mahapanchayat of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) running at Rodibelwala Maidan in Haridwar, which includes demands ranging from increasing MSP to providing free electricity to farmers on the lines of Uttar Pradesh. These proposals were sent to the President in the form of a memorandum. With this the mahapanchayat came to an end.
On the third day on Sunday, the resolutions passed on various issues of the farmers who came in the two days of Chintan Shivir were announced. On the third day of Bhakiyu’s (Tikait) Chintan Shivir, national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait attacked the government. Tikait said that the condition of food providers in the country is pathetic. Sugar mills in Uttarakhand owe sugarcane dues of crores of rupees to the farmers. Due to the non-implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report and the MSP law, the condition of the farmers is getting worse.
A 27-point resolution was passed discussing many such issues. Its draft was demanded to be implemented by sending it in the form of a memorandum to the President through the City Magistrate’s Office. During this, expressing gratitude to the farmers, Rajbir Singh, Balram Singh, Ghanshyam, Vijay Kumar, Rajpal Singh, Shobharam Thakur etc. called for a united struggle.
Kisan Mahakumbh limited to formality:
Every year in the Kisan Mahakumbh held on the banks of the Ganga in the summer season, strategies were made for big movements, in front of which the governments had to kneel down. But due to division into different groups, Kisan Mahakumbh has now become a ritual. Even the government-administration does not take farmers’ unions seriously anymore.
Its hallmark came to the fore on the third day. No officer reached to take the memorandum of the farmers on the closing occasion. The program was concluded by holding the memorandum by an employee of the City Magistrate’s office.
