Technology will play an important role in preventing encroachment on government land and assets in Uttarakhand. Digital land bank of all the departments will be prepared through Geographical Information System (GIS). The data of the Digital Land Bank will be updated every two months.
In case of encroachment or any change on the land, the signal will immediately reach the nodal officer of the concerned department in the form of a message. If the department hides the information of encroachment, then it is certain that the concerned officer will be punished.
The stand of the government is very serious regarding the removal of encroachment on government land assets in the state. Cases of encroachment have come to the fore by illegally installing religious symbols on the land of Forest Department. Instead of stopping, this trend is flourishing rapidly. In view of this, instructions have been given by the Revenue Department to all the departments to give factual information about the encroachment on their land or assets.
CM Dhami is eyeing:
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself is monitoring it. After the strict stand of the Chief Minister, the government machinery is on alert mode in this matter. All government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, corporations, councils, local bodies will prepare a base asset register (inventory) of land and buildings owned by them. Each asset will be allotted a unique number on the portal.
Digital Land Bank will be made district wise:
The matter was put up in the meeting of the Committee of Secretaries at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu on Tuesday. It was decided that a district-wise digital land bank of government land-assets would be set up across the state. The Revenue Council and Information Technology Development Agency will work together for this online system.
Work will be done like this:
Information format has been sent by the Revenue Department to all the departments for recording the details in the Digital Land Bank. Departments will send information about their land and assets on this format. District-wise GIS mapping of departmental assets will be done with the help of experts. The data generated on the basis of GIS mapping will play an important role in marking new encroachments. This data will be entered on the portal.
Instructions given to nominate the nodal officer:
Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu instructed all the departments to nominate nodal officers as per the guidelines sent by the Revenue Department. On receipt of new encroachment information while updating the GIS data, its information will be given to the concerned nodal officer immediately through signal. He said that action will be taken against the concerned officer for ignoring or hiding the information of encroachment.
