Phuldei, the traditional festival of Uttarakhand, was celebrated across the state on Sunday. The festival was also celebrated with pomp at the home of the new head of the state, Tirath Singh Rawat. The children arrived at the residence of Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat in Dehradun to celebrate Phooldei. He also went to Phooldei, Chamma Dei, Daini Dwar, Bhar Bhakara… folk songs. The festival of Phuldei holds special significance in Uttarakhand. In this festival, starting with Chait Sankranti i.e. flower solstice, flowers are put on the walls of the houses throughout this month. The children who put flowers are called Fulari. Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and his wife Dr. Rashmi Tyagi Rawat also celebrated Phooldei with children. The Chief Minister presented gifts to the children who came to his residence.
