Due to special efforts of Haldwani-Uttarakhand government, a special train from Kathgodam reached Kathgodam at 11:30 pm on Monday night due to 1200 passengers stranded due to Covid-19 lockdown of Kumaon division. On reaching the train, District Magistrate Mr. Savin Basnal, Senior Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Meena, Chief Development Officer Vineet Kumar and other administrative officials welcomed the migrants from Uttarakhand. Oncoming passengers were welcomed by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, District President Pradeep Bisht, State Spokesperson Prakash Rawat and senior workers of the organization. The complacency was seen on the faces of the passengers arriving on their way back home, the happiness was also seen in the eyes of many passengers. 1200 passengers from Almora district, 291 from Bageshwar, 291 from Champawat, 06 from Pithoragarh, 254 from Udhamsingh Nagar and Nainital district reached 510 by the special train from Surat to the railway station Kathgodam. Passengers from there will be sent via buses to various districts of Kumaon. District Collector Mr. Bansal set up 46 small and big buses of the Transport Corporation to send the passengers to their districts. In Kathgodam railway station, along with drinking water arrangements for the convenience of the passengers, there was light arrangement in the railway station, toilets, mike sets for declaration, adequate civilian police, railway police force was deployed at the entry and exit points of the station.
Passengers from railway station Kathgodam to Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Udhamsingh Nagar were taken via buses to the Inter National Stadium Gaulapar, where thermal scanning and health testing of passengers was done by the health department teams and food, water and Juice was also made available at the station and arrangements for lodging etc. were made at Gaulapar Stadium. Passengers will be sent to their destination via morning buses of Mangalwar. While the passengers from various cities and villages of Nainital district will be taken to Jasmin Bacant Hall Bareilly Road Haldwani, where their thermal scanning, health tests are carried out to the nearby residents, who live in remote places, They will be sent to their homes on Tuesday morning through vehicles.
